Rafael Salvatierra

Starting as a trusted board member of Luma Financial Technologies in 2019, appointed by Bank of America, Rafael now serves as the Global Head of Business & Client Management, after previously leading the firm’s Americas organization. He is responsible for overseeing business strategy, client engagement, and commercial execution across all markets where Luma operates.

Before joining Luma, Rafael served as Head of Product Structuring, Origination, and UHNW Solutions at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch until May 2022, where he managed and grew the structured products and bespoke solutions business. He joined Merrill in 2018 from Citigroup, where he spent a decade as Head of Multi-Asset Structuring and Cross-Asset Advisory within both the Global Markets division and the Private Bank. Earlier in his career, Rafael held senior roles at Merrill Lynch & Co. in the Equity Derivatives division of Global Markets, where he began his journey in finance.

Rafael brings over 20 years of leadership experience managing front-office businesses across trading, structuring, origination, sales, advisory, marketing, and execution. His expertise spans both the institutional Global Markets and Wealth Management sectors, with deep experience in product development, advisory, and distribution. He has served institutional and private clients across the Americas and Europe, with a focus on solutions linked to all asset classes—including alternatives and complex instruments with embedded derivatives.

He holds two master’s degrees from Columbia University, one in Mathematical Finance and another in Economic Policy, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration. After spending more than two decades in New York City, Rafael recently relocated to Miami with his family to open and lead Luma’s new Miami office.
